JEWISH MUSEUM IN VENICE
New events to discover the art and history of the Venice Ghetto, the oldest in Europe and Italy, organized by the Jewish Museum of Venice in collaboration with Opera Laboratori.
On Sunday, April 19th, at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with “Feminine Judaism: A View from the Matroneum,” you can visit a place usually closed and inaccessible: the matroneum of the Levantine Synagogue.
On Sunday, April 26th, the last event of April is “Liberation in Venice,” at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., celebrating the Anniversary of the Liberation by recounting the Jewish resistance in Venice and the city’s subsequent liberation.
Each visit will include a guided tour of one synagogue and independent admission to a second.
Please note that it is also possible to visit the Jewish Ghetto of Venice and its historic buildings on all other days except Saturdays. Visits are available via a free app in Italian, English, French, German, and Spanish, and guided tours are available in Italian and English from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. It is also possible to book exclusive private visits to the monumental Jewish cemetery on the Lido di Venezia and the Ghetto, the Spanish, Levantine, and recently restored and reopened Italian synagogues, and the Bet Midrash.
